• SLOSEA has released four

  Management Action Memos

  to key resource agencies. These memos include specific recommendations for improvement of water quality and protection of the area's native wildlife and scenic coastline.

• A formal petition and testimony

  have been delivered by SLOSEA to the California Fish and Game Commission to change regulations that would help to protect intertidal marine life.
• SLOSEA produced the first-ever

  ecosystem and conservation strategic plan

  for the central coast of California with 35 stakeholders, including elected officials, resource managers, residents, and staff from local government.

• Novel partnerships

  have been developed between SLOSEA and state and federal agencies that integrate our efforts to achieve conservation goals in the areas of water quality, access to coastal ecosystems and fisheries data collection and management.
• The Joint Ocean Commissions Initiative identified SLOSEA as one of two leading examples of

  innovative science and management

The San Luis Obispo Science and Ecosystem Alliance

is an integrated group of scientists, resource managers and stakeholders studying and supporting marine resources on the California Central Coast.

VISION:

SLOSEA's vision is a healthy, resilient coastal ecosystem that provides for thriving and interacting populations of plant, animal and human communities.

SCOPE:

The SLOSEA study area includes the Morro Bay Estuary and the nearshore coast and watersheds from Cape San Martin to Point Conception.

ORIGIN:

SLOSEA was established to link research at the Cal Poly Center for Coastal Marine Sciences to marine resource management and policy decisions along California's central coast.
